DOMESTICA

160mm x 155mm x 66mm Inspired by the joy of objects, this piece focuses specifically on the magic and aura of the everyday object. Having always been fascinated by objects and their most basic material qualities, this neckpiece encapsulates a vision of ordinary household objects coming to life after we leave our rooms, reimagining them as extra-ordinary objects despite changing nothing but our perception of them. This neckpiece explores the mere moment of when I step outside my home every day when all the “stuff ” comes to life. Despite some of these things being plants which could be alive, it is the unseen movement, characterization and visualization of that object’s aura that has driven the inspiration for this piece, analyzing textures and extracting shapes and forms. The intention of this neckpiece was to illustrate this newfound life in the objects around my home which has been shown in the way the piece creates shadows on the wearer and flutters as they themself move. The piece is a single representation of all the objects in my home at once
